The Home Minister, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi publicly announced that the Prevention of Crime Act would be used only against criminals and not politicians. Who are the criminals and who are the politicians? Continue reading “Sitting on a Volcano”
9/11 in 1973 Chile
9/11 in 1973 Chile

I have to share this, it is important because fewer people outside Chile may know about this 9/11 which was no less tragic than what happened on September 11, 2001 in New York. Still, one wonders how dictators like Augusto Pinochet had the sympathy of former Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher (UK) and Dr. Mahathir Mohammad (Malaysia). Now, Barak Obama, President of the United States wants to ‘teach’ Syria a lesson. Has the United States itself learned anything from its past actions in the Middle East that only resulted in continuing conflict and destruction? How many more innocent people must die for nothing?
See the other 9/11 and ask yourself, if this is justified. People are getting tired of war and lies.

Near Total Deflation

Before GE13, there was so much hype. Malaysian electorate seemed to go full speed ahead to “UBAH”/ CHANGE – the catchword and main subject of popular discussion. Our hopes of seeing a brave new government displace the old regime that sounded like a broken record repeating old rhetoric in new words, seems to have gone totally flat like a punctured tire. No doubt, the battle cry of “UBAH” had frightened those ‘old BN goats’ into belligerence to make this 13th general election the most controversial and least fair or free. Controversial – because of alleged gerrymandering, usage of ‘phantom voters, pre-election payouts and ‘lucky-draws’, free food, more promises and continuing payouts. Testing Faith

One of the current burning issues in Malaysia is freedom of religion. The abuse of God’s name in which many of these rights violations are committed would certainly be seen as not just oppressive and unjust, but a down right insult to the Almighty, let alone Peoples of “The Book”, as Jews, Christians and Muslims are called. Saying that, it seems that particular extremist factions from any of this troika seem to take every opportunity to abuse, insult and oppress each other, especially in the holiest of times when all should peacefully sit back and deeply reflect on our sinful ways. However, in this country, there are perpetual tests of faith for Muslims as well as Christians and the article I share here reflects the sort of test that arises when least expected. There is no headline, but this came out in the Malaysian Insider, an online daily. Continue reading “Testing Faith”
Bossy… Me?

Mothers, wives, sisters, girlfriends, women relatives and friends are very often accused of being ‘bossy’ or ‘nags’. Men, whom sons, and brothers take after, frequently use these terms in a derogatory way to put women off, or simply do so out of exasperation. Are they, in their very patriarchal mentality, justified in doing so? There is probably a reason for women to do this. Continue reading “Bossy… Me?”
Music for Empty Days
Dear Readers,
I need space to fly away, to get away from things that most depress me and sometimes make life seem purposeless and empty. I decided to fill that space with music and songs. Melodies are like a cool, fresh, clear lake, they help me feel free, at least for a little while; to forget the ongoing pressures and pretenses that make us mask how we really feel.
You are warmly invited to visit my ‘peaceful space’ at my new page tagged “Music My Healer”. It is still under construction and will be updated from time to time. Yet, there are YouTube links there that you may enjoy. Come rest with me, let the sounds, sights and lyrics carry you away on a journey of pure enjoyment.
Crescendo for Freedom
BLACKOUT505
I can’t help wanting to share this, it is so inspirational in the current environment of despair and trial. At this time, disappointment and despair are also a personal emotion, as well as a popular feeling in this land. It fuels the struggles we face as a people. It is hard to talk about it without feeling the sting of tears behind my eyes, so just see and hear this song from the famous story by Victor Hugo, “Les Miserables”
Sing along, if you feel inspired, the lyrics are there for you to join the crescendo for freedom and democracy.
