After Adam Adli’s release on bail, 1 MP(Member of Parliament), 3 political activist and another student activist were arrested yesterday. They were all charged in court with sedition and RM5000 bail each, this morning (29th May 2013). The five were:
1. Tian Chua (PKR Vice-President)
2. Haris Ibrahim (Political activist ABU)
3. Tamrin Ghafar (Political activist PAS)
4. Hishamuddin Rais (Blogger)
5. Muhammad Safwan Anang (Student activist)
These 5 and Adam Adli are accused of urging the overthrow of the BN government. But, here is what their fellow MPs and lawyers had to say about the allegations by the BN – see this link :

Muhammad Safwan Anang, the second student activist charged with sedition has heroically refused to post bail and chosen to prison on remand until 2 July when he appears in court. According to an internet news portal, supporters have planned a candlelight vigil outside Sungai Buloh Prison in Kuala Lumpur, tonight. http://news.abnxcess.com/2013/05/student-activist-safwan-declines-freedom-on-bail-ends-up-in-sungai-buloh-prison/?utm
The BN hopes the Rakyat will run out of steam as time progresses and will eventually endorse their suspect election victory. Whether the waiting game will favor BN is far from certain now, as many know that long-standing regimes find it difficult to change.
For the Rakyat, it is not just a matter of time but how that time is spent. The mandate is given although not acknowledged by the powers that be. Instead, we see dark days ahead that echo Operation Lalang 1978.
Yet, this won’t be the same, the Rakyat have come this far, holding courage in both hands and firmly making their aspirations undeniably clear. Popular attitudes towards racial issues seem to have changed for the better with the wider acceptance of multi-racialism and the plain out dating of racial politics, especially among Malaysia’s younger generation.
The post-May 13th generations are the future Malaysians to whom communal divisions have lesser significance, growing up in a multi-racial, modern environment with technologically enabled cross-border communications. The older generation who latch on to this begin to realize the limitless possibilities of multi-racialism turning into internationalism. From my point of view racial politics is on the out.
As the days darken with the restriction and denial of free expression and pressure to end the struggle for democratic and human rights, we pray for the strength to persist in this quest for truth, justice and genuine democracy.
