Immortal Spirit of Democracy

It is the 27th August 2015, just two days to the Bersih 4 march in Kuala Lumpur, WP, Kuching, Sarawak and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Malaysians must note and record this historical event for posterity, the next generations must know how their elders struggled and strove to win democratic freedom from oppression, exploitation and feudalism born of past colonial rule. We will remember the past, the present and the future.

Nothing will wipe out that dark history of continuing insults demeaning the Rakyat (the People), pushing us further and further into a funnel of abject poverty, taking our ‘life’s blood’ to feed the voracious greed of those having more than they need.

Tomorrow, on the eve of our history making, when the yellow banners will be flying high over the heads of a yellow clad mass of humanity, coming from the four corners of this bullied nation, those unable to join the yellow ground swell to celebrate true democracy keep the fires burning in mind, heart and spirit. We will not forget you out there. You have our support in spirit and are certainly upheld in our prayers.

Ironically, we will show the powers-that-be the real meaning of “Sehati sejiwa” (One heart one spirit), the same theme devised by those advocating flag waving, slogan shouting, merely symbolic, easy patriotism. Those who care for the nation often point out its imperfections, but stand accused of being unpatriotic by the shallow thinking, power-hungry politicians who milk this country like a cash cow. No doubt, they are ready to jump ship like drowning rats, when the tide turns.

Whatever, happens in our struggle for justice, truth, democracy, and honest leadership, that selflessly serves the Rakyat by clean, fair, transparent good governance, respecting the human rights and dignity of all people within our borders; the spirit of democracy will never be extinguished!

Even if Bersih 4 is stopped in its tracks, the meaningful fires of the our struggle must not be extinguished. Each attempt to smother these flames will be fueling the fire. It will burn brighter and hotter than ever. However long, whatever it takes, the ochre river must flow on unhindered, until the yellow sun of our achieved goals rises above the horizon of our homeland, Malaysia!
