There are these young ones who like being “know-all’s”. They seem to imagine that older people, I mean much older people, don’t know the tricks of survival. Well, we weren’t born yesterday, OK? I slaved over a piece of work since late February and just finished it last weekend. The work was submitted to my boss, on Monday. Incidentally, this report was circulated to certain groups in the same line of work, and some unscrupulous individuals cut and pasted my info into their own reports and passed it off as theirs, without the decency of acknowledging or attributing it to the originator. Plagiarist are not uncommon and what these clowns fail to realize is that they do not know the thinking behind my discussion of whatever they have lifted from my work.
I’m sure there are many of you out there who are familiar with this scenario. In helping people, we tend to be generous, but there are those who eventually cause you to turn off that tap of generosity by taking advantage of you. These are the all-time receivers who often think that life centers only on themselves. They live in a “Me,me, me” world.
Adding irritation to insult a person from a certain other organization had the gall to text me asking for help to research a subject I had brought up in my report. Unfortunately, I was instinctively kind and gave him a morsel of info. Then, I asked him to tell me what aspect of the subject exactly he was researching on and for whom he was doing it. As I expected, no reply was forthcoming. I know this tactic well, but it is not my practice to ‘steal’ knowledge from others without acknowledging them. It is unethical, not to mention
illegal as well, and shows how bankrupt of ideas some people are.
In this era where we literally swim in info. ‘parasiting’ or riding on the backs of others can only mean that one has no ideas of one’s own and are too lazy to pursue real knowledge. Such people really are pseudo intellectuals who hanker for image without substance, or name without any real quality. It reminds me of barbarians in branded clothes. Looking fashionable on the outside but having ‘cave man’ manners.
Well, my friends and I are familiar with this kind of ruse and will deal with these people in their future attempts to ‘rob’ our information banks again. When they send out their young minions to do their dirty work, we will tell them not to try to teach their ‘grandmothers to suck eggs’.
You see, older people have come through decades of learning and experience and can easily tell fake from genuine. We have been through many trials and problems these ‘green ones’ might not even imagine. They’re still ‘wet behind the ears’ so to speak.
So, Children, don’t try to hoodwink Granny, you cannot imagine what she already knows. Little old Ladies (and Little Old Men) aren’t as harmless as they may look…
